ABC. “Always. Be. Closing.” Ah – the sales mantra we all know so well. And while over the last several years, technology and innovative best practices have played a large role in the fluidity of the acronym – from ABC “Always be connecting” to ABE “Always be engaging” – the lesson for professionals in sales and marketing should really be ABL “Always. Be. Learning.”
Albert Einstein’s quote above is a great reminder of this. Whether it’s sales professionals spending time learning about a prospect’s pain points, or marketing analyzing its latest ABM campaign and taking those results and adjusting so that the next one is more effective, continued learning is a huge part of sales and marketing success.
After all, knowledge is power, right?
While attending conferences, webinars, or in-office career advancing trainings are great ways to fulfill the “knowledge is power” promise, podcasts can also offer today’s busy professionals a great way to move up a few IQ points. For me, the easy subscription model, which automatically downloads new episodes to my iPhone, coupled with a long grueling commute behind the wheel, makes listening to podcasts my preferred method for brushing up on my career best practices. So, without further ado, below are some of my favorite “ABL” podcasts that I highly recommend subscribing to.

The brainchild of Jason Miller, who leads global content for LinkedIn Marketing Solutions by day and doubles as a rock and roll photographer by night, the Sophisticated Marketer’s Podcast, tackles the latest trends and topics that matter most to marketers. With his “unique rock’ n’ roll” flare, every two weeks Jason interviews marketing powerhouses from around the globe (think the likes of Seth Godin, Brian Solis, Anne Handley and even Twisted Sister founding member Jay Jay French – yes you read that right), to bring its listeners a fresh angle on the topic of marketing that is full of value, while keeping the tone humorous. The last podcast I’d like to share, is called #FlipMyFunnel, hosted by the vendor-neutral community of the same name, and created by Nikki Nixon and Sangram Vajre, former head of marketing at Pardot (acquired by Salesforce). Dedicated to challenging the status quo of B2B marketing and sales by sharing insights and tips within the ABM industry, this podcast help empower sales, marketing and customer success professionals to accelerate pipeline and grow revenue. Episodes are presented by some of the most influential ABM and B2B thought-leaders and practitioners in the industry, with several of the latest falling under a “Masters of Their Craft” series in an interview Q&A format.
